Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) impacts

The health and wellbeing of the Gold Coast community, our customers and City employees is our first priority.

The City is receiving advice from the Federal Government and Queensland Health on a daily basis to inform our response to the Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the city.

Parks remain open with visitors encouraged to take recommended health and social distancing precautions.

From Saturday 16 May the following City park services and facilities will resume:

  • all playgrounds, gym equipment and barbecues open
  • skate parks and outdoor basketball courts open
  • sports fields and parks are open for use by families, friends and members of the same household (up to 10 people) for outdoor non-contact activity. Fields and parks are not open for organised sporting activity such as training and matches.
  • park bookings are open for up to 10 people
  • Broadwater Parklands is open however the bouncy pillow and rockpool wet play will remain temporarily closed. Rotary chapel open for weddings up to 10 people and Southport Pier open
  • free tree scheme reopened.

Water fountains/bubblers: Based on advice from Queensland Health, these will remain turned on; however users should practice appropriate hygiene. The City will increase cleaning frequency.

Soap dispensers are available in some public amenities in our most popular parks.

The State Government has placed restrictions and closures on Queensland national parks, state forests and recreational areas. Selected areas have been reopened. Visit the Department of Environment and Science's website for information.

City-owned nature trails are open however we remind everyone to abide by current social distancing restrictions.

Complaints about non–compliance with current social distancing regulations should be referred to Police link hotline 131 444.

Whatever the reason, we have lots of parks to suit your interests. Use our Park finder to search for the best Gold Coast parks for children, weddings, exploring nature, accessibility and more.
