The Gold Coast has a unique and diverse cultural heritage ranging from traditional Indigenous ownership over tens of thousands of years, European settlement of the hinterland in the early nineteenth century, rural coastal resort in the late nineteenth to early twentieth century, to rapid coastal strip development in the late twentieth century.
