Accessibility

The Gold Coast City Council Cultural Online website aims to adhere to the accessibility needs of its wide range of users. The accessibility of this website is based on the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Accessibility Guidelines.

Alternative website version

We provide an alternative version of this website which uses larger fonts, higher contrast colours and lower resolution images. You can enable this alternative version by selecting the Accessibility on link in the footer of each page. This will toggle to Accessiblilty off when it is enabled to allow you to return to the normal layout.

Skip links

Skip links are provided at the beginning of each page to allow quick access to the navigation, content and footer sections of the page. A screen reader will pick these links up and you can also access them using the Tab key on the keyboard.

Tab order

By pressing the Tab key you can jump through the various sections on the website. The tab order starts with the skip links at the beginning of the page then preceeds through the remaining website sections in a logical order. To traverse backwards in tab order use the combination of Shift + Tab together.

Access keys

Access keys can be used to deliver quick access via the keyboard to important links on a page. The following access key combinations can be used on this website:

  • Alt + 2 » Home
  • Alt + 3 » Accessibility

To use access keys simply press Alt (on a windows computer), or Control (on a mac computer) and an access key number .
